Setsubun |
|
On Feb 3rd we celebrated Setsubun, a traditional Japanese event to mark the end of an old season and celebrate a new season to come. Traditionally a demon from the mountains comes and visits on Setsubun day. Everyone tries to scare him away throwing beans, to symbolize getting rid of the bad and to wish for a good new season without the evil! All the children made their own bean cup and looked forward to the event. ‘I am not scared!’ the older ones said bravely. ![]() When the demon came to STEP school, they were all determined to scare him away! They threw many beans at him, while shouting out loud: ‘Go away!!’ ![]() After all they succeeded and the demon went away! ![]() ![]() This week we also got ready for Valentines day! Happy Valentine everyone! |
