Setsubun

On Feb 3rd we celebrated Setsubun,
a traditional Japanese event to mark the end of an old season
and celebrate a new season to come.

Traditionally a demon from the mountains comes
and visits on Setsubun day.

Everyone tries to scare him away throwing beans,
to symbolize getting rid of the bad
and to wish for a good new season without the evil!

All the children made their own bean cup and
looked forward to the event.

‘I am not scared!’ the older ones said bravely.

When the demon came to STEP school,
they were all determined to scare him away!

They threw many beans at him, while shouting out loud: ‘Go away!!’

After all they succeeded and the demon went away!

Everyone was relieved!

This week we also got ready for Valentines day!

Our P-class wove a cute heart with felt,
E-class heart-stamped a message,
T-class cut a hearty snail
and our youngest S-class painted picture frame.

Happy Valentine everyone!
