   Features of STEP curriculum

Phonics
Phonics is one of the teaching way to get correct English pronunciation. The kids who learn the connection of letters and sounds can guess the pronunciation of unknown words.
It is important to learn correct pronunciation from English native teachers in their childhood.

Japanese
To achieve our school educational purpose "Japanese International-minded People," kids need to study Japanese.
We put Japanese lessons in our school curriculum and teach not only Hiragana and Katakana but also old tales. It helps kids to get Japanese original culture and thoughts, it's called "Bitoku - virtue."

Activities
We put different activities each day such as craft, math, writing, P.E. and park playing.
We think it's important to utilize their characters.

 Phonics by Letterland

Phonics is an education method which is widely used in kindergarten and elementally school
in English-speaking countries to teach kids how to pronounce and read English.

They will learn the relations of English letter and the sound. Once they master the Phonics, they can pronounce the words that they don’t even know.

For example, in the Phonics sound M is pronounced as Mu. A is pronounced as a as in apple and N is pronounces as Nu.

If you combine those sounds Mu, A, Nu you can pronounce the word “man” with correct pronunciation.

By using Phonics kids will learn the correct pronunciations.
Also, if the kids know how to pronounce the words they will be able to dictate the words they hear and listen.
Letterland is a child-friendly, multi-sensory system for teaching children to read, write and spell.
The secret of its worldwide success lies in its pictogram characters.
Letterland makes learning letter sounds fun! In Letterland, letters have good reasons for behaving the way they do. And children love knowing why. It is much more fun to learn that Harry Hat Man whispers ‘hhh' in words because he hates noise, than to remember than ‘aitch' makes the sound ‘hhh'... .
